We have 20 Governor seats on the Governing body at Chesterton.
Our LA Appointed Governors (4/4)
1. Mr Ian Kidman.
I have been a local authority governor since 1990 and was Chair to the Governors between 1992 and 1996. Two of my children were educated at Chesterton Community College, following their primary schooling at Milton Road Primary School. I am currently designated Governor for Child Protection.

I joined the Governing Body in January 2008. My three daughters attend St Laurence RC Primary School and my eldest will be starting at Chesterton this September. I was born in Cambridge and now live close to the College. I work at South Cambridgeshire District Council.
Our Parent Governors (7/7)
1. Mrs Theresa Bateman.
I am a Parent Governor with a child in Year 9 and two children who attended Chesterton College and went on to sixth form afterwards. They also attended Shirley Infant School, St Andrew's Church of England Junior School and St Laurence's RC Primary School. I work at Cambridgeshire County Council for families with children under five years old. I am on the Teaching and Learning Committee and the Extended Schools Committee.

I have two daughters at Chesterton. In my free time, I sing with a 1920's-style dance band and play the violin in the Cambridge Concert Orchestra.

I have lived in Cambridge for 14 years and have two children. Tom is in Year 7 and Kathryn who is at Milton Road and will be coming to Chesterton in due course. My career has been in Human resources and currently I am working at ITV as the HR director for one of their divisions.

Our Staff Governors (4/4)
1. Dr Katherine Hutchinson (Head of Humanities)
Katharine Hutchinson was appointed as a Staff Governor in 2009. She is Head of Humanities at Chesterton and leads the College's ICT across the curriculum (ICTAC) project as well as being a KS3 Consultant for the Geographical Association. Kath has always lived within the Chesterton catchment area and was educated at Mayfield Primary School, Chesterton Communuity College and Hills Road VI Form College. Kath was a pupil at Chesterton from 1986-1991 and is now enjoying the challenge of teaching the children of some of her contemporaries!
Kath is a member of the Teaching and Learning and Resources committees and has been an active member of the PTA since joining the school staff in 2002.
2. Mrs Becky Pointon (Head of RE and PSE)
I have been a staff Governor for over three years, contributing to the Resources, Personnel and Full Governors committee meetings. I am Head of RE and PSE and I am the Healthy School Coordinator. I have taught at Chesterton for 8 years and I have been a Head of Year also. Being a Governor means contributing to the decision making process: I enjoy being a small part of the running of this community.
3. Mr Mark Patterson (Principal)
I am proud to be the Principal at Chesterton Community College, as well as being a Governor! I came to England in 1982, to go to University, and have stayed ever since! I trained as a Modern Foreign Languages Teacher, became a Head of MFL in 1993 and then Deputy Head at a school, in Essex, in 1999. I was delighted to be appointed Principal at Chesterton in 2004 and my main aim, along with my fellow Governors and school colleagues, is to help the school become outstanding.

Our Community Governor (5/5)
1. Mrs Mary Sanders (Chair of Governors).
I have been a Community Governor for a number of years and in my (other) day job I work as a self-employed science editor. My youngest son, now grown-up, went to Chesterton and then to Hills Road.
2. Mr James Strachan
I have been a Governor of Chesterton Community College for some twenty years; working with four Principals! I have tended to concentrate on the Resources and Management areas of Governor responsibilities. I live in the De Freville area and see my work as Governor as a means of contributing to the Community.

I am the Managing Director of Workplace Law Group, a legal services firm based in Cambridge. I am the Vice Chair of the full Governoring body, Chair of the Resources Committee, and I also Chair the working party which is guiding Chesterton through to becoming a Foundation School with Trust status. I am passionate about education, and about helping Chesterton to become one of the best places for people to study and work in Cambridge.
